The Agency will be represented at the inaugural Youth Marketing Strategy conference tomorrow with presenters from Channel 4, University of Leicester, Opinion Panel, Big Choice Group talking about examples of work with BBC (Radio 1), Ministry of Sound, universities and sixth form colleges, KPMG, Nokia, T-Mobile, Cadbury's, Red Bull, French Connection, and Sony.

Made in Brunel takes place at the OXO Bargehouse, London, showcasing design and engineering students' work - We'll be supporting this initiative by Brunel University/West London Business by attending the showcase and the Design and Innovation workshop.  Fairtrade has launched Fairmined Gold and the agency will be showing its support during London Jewellery Week 10-16 June.

The 5th International Fairtrade Towns Conference hosted by the City of Malmo and Fairtrade Sweden.  A Resolution was passed to requesting the European Union to reduce or eliminate tarriff or non-tarriff barriers to environmentally friendly or Fairtrade products.  A request was also made to all levels of Government to consider the maximisation of the positive global social and economic impact of our purchases and to implement sustainable procurement policies that include sourcing Fair Trade products. Businesses are urged to enter into partnerships to broaden the range of Fair Trade products and practices.

28-29 FEBRUARY 2012

The twelfth year of Technology for Marketing & Advertising, an industry event, took place at Earl's Court 2 (London) and incorporated for the first time Direct Marketing Expo (DMX 2012).  This trade event is free to attend.  Thanks to the suppliers and agencies I met with to discuss opportunities.   Seminars continued to be popular with queues of eager visitors making sure they got a seat to hear about, amongst other topics, website design and useability, CRM technology, and search marketing.  There were queues despite an increase in seating of 25%. The most popular seminars this year were those that covered the topic of social media.

A networking and shopping event took place at the Swarovski Crystallized showroom in Great Marlborough Street, opposite Liberty's (London).  Held in association with Grazia! Magazine the evening event was held in the Swarovski Crystallized Lounge (venue) a concept store.  Pieces from the spring/summer collection were on display, available for sale, and to try on.  A fashion photographer was at the event to take a professional photograph whilst guests tried on their favourite piece.

The 02 Store at Tottenham Court Road, London, has a specially designed 'workshop' basement.  The drop-in workspace provides secluded booths for working in which can be booked, and open areas to work and connect to free Wi-Fi.   This provides a relaxed space to get advice and help with business needs from staff and 02 gurus.  There are free spaces to hold meetings and the board room and seminar meeting rooms are available to hire.  A great central location provides opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to work, network, meet and conduct business.

The UK Mining Capability evening reception and brochure

All attendees recieved the extensive UK Mining Capability

Brochure and meet senior UK and international industry

delegates, providing excellent networking opportunities and

new information.  The event was organised by the UK

Trade & Investment (UKTI) department.


UK Trade and Industry (UKTI) hosted International Buyers looking to set up in the UK at their stand at the Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) 2013 Exhibition which took place at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedford, England.  Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) were given buyer

profiles and invited to book one-to-one appointments in advance.  SMEs were also

introduced to UKTI specialists from overseas who assist British companies to export.


Alex Zane presented the Film Distributor's Association (FDA) programme of autumn and winter movie release highlights and was question master for a movie quote quiz going back to the 1950s.

He told me he enjoyed hosting the event and about some of the movie quotes he didn't know.

annual World Travel Market 4-7 November 2013, the key event for overseas tourist boards.

customer service/promotional ideas/display ideas.

The store was in the location (The Bentalls Centre)

The first official behind-the-scenes tour of London Heathrow Airport - TERMINAL 2 - for a business group was organised by West London Business.  The spectacular enormous terminal is due to be opened on June 4 by HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Presentations were given from representatives of West London Business and  Heathrow Airport.  These both outlined the construction and finishing of the Terminal, it's importance to the local community in terms of employment and it's impressive history and current status as a major international travel hub. A spectacular sculpture,  Wilson's Slipstream takes a prominent position and is likely to become one of the world's most viewed pieces of art.

Workshop themes included your ideal market, the road ahead, e-commerce as a route to market, and organise your ideas.
